Historical Significance

Founded in 1146 by Yaroslav Osmomysl, Prince of Halych, the castle was strengthened during the 14th-15th centuries with construction of its famous defensive walls. The fortress withstood multiple sieges and invasions, serving as a crucial defense against Mongol invasions and later conflicts. Its strategic importance made it a center of regional power for centuries.
